My name's Scott Pattenden, I'm 22 years of age, and I'm an incredibly passionate and driven freelance photographer/videographer based just north of London. I work professionally in the industry and mainly produce extreme sports and automotive work but frequently shoot various other genres such as fashion, fine art, events, landscapes, and just about anything else that catches my eye.
After only working for around 2 years professionally in the industry, I've been fortunate enough to have experienced an incredibly diverse career. I’ve photographed at the top of Mont Blanc, shot out of Helicopters over LA, explored abandoned military bases, worked with a number of high profile individuals, produced work for some of the biggest brands on the planet, travelled the world on commissioned jobs, and shot with some incredibly talented athletes.
Photography is my purpose in life, and what made me really click with it was the work of the masters. Ansel Adams, Bill Brandt, Robert Rauschenberg, but mainly Dom McCullin and other war photographer alike. I read his autobiography which I stumbled across in my college library at 18. It completely changed my perception on photography, and made me realise the power a photographer holds within his hands. It was almost like having a photographic epiphany. This experience was truly a defining moment in my life, and since then I've changed my shooting style and the way I read the world.
Photography is where the real passion and drive is but I also discovered that I have a bit of a talent for shooting videos too. I never really had any intentions with videography when I first picked up a camera. However I noticed the change that was happening within the industry, and that everything was slowly becoming video based. I soon realised that having both skill sets in my arsenal would be greatly beneficial to me, and it has been. I’ve produced videos for an array of fashion, action sports, and independent brands, and in all honesty videography has been one of the most defining things to happen to my career, as it has provided a lot valuable opportunities for me.
As much as I love shooting work for well respected brands and talented individuals, the goal one day is to be producing work for myself & my audience which I hope to build over the coming years. Every artist aspires to become an established name in their art form, and this is something I'm currently striving to achieve. I realise that this isn’t going to be quick process, it could take 10 or 20 years, but this doesn’t phase me. I’m excited for the journey, and determined to work my hardest to achieve my goals.
I have huge ambitions as an artist, and not all of them entail just producing great content. I hope to one day inspire the next generation with the power of art. I’m fascinated by the philosophy of great photographers and artists, which allows me to better understand my own and helps develop it in a way that I hope to eventually bring great things to the art world & society sometime in my future.
I can appreciate I’ve written quite a 'ABOUT' me section. I’ve tried my best to present my passion and ability behind a camera in this website. Out of everything I’ve written, the most important thing I want to put across is that 'art has the power to transform, to illuminate, to educate, inspire and motivate.'
I honestly don’t even feel like I’m scratching the surface as of yet, and with that, all I ask from life is opportunity.
Thank you very much for taking time out of your day to visit my site. I greatly appreciate it, and hope that you enjoy the content featured here.
